More people employed in May-August; low-skilled jobs dominate, says CMIE

During May-Aug 2019, an estimated 404.9 million people were employed in India. This meant that 2.5 million more people were employed during this period compared to a year ago when employment was 402.4 million. Mahesh Vyas, CEO , CMIE said agriculture saw an increase of 8.4 million jobs but fall in jobs in manufacturing, IT and the financial sector was worrying.
