Revenue official mowed down by MP mining mafia
Prashann Singh, a Madhya Pradesh revenue official, was crushed to death under a tractor by sand mining mafia in Shahdol district late Saturday. He was a patwari in Beohari revenue division. An ex-serviceman, he was an honest and diligent official of the revenue department, said his seniors. The murder, which took place at Gopalpur village on the banks of River Son, 565km east of Bhopal, around 11pm Saturday, was the latest in a string of horrific attacks by the mining mafia on police personnel and other government employees.

Deregulation of domestic crude appears to have tipped the balance in favour of producers as green shoots of a free market emerge. In term deals signed after getting marketing freedom, state-run producer ONGC is commanding a premium over global benchmark Brent for Mumbai offshore oil in spite of attempts by buyers, also from the public sector, to beat down prices by leveraging discounts on Russian supplies. ONGC produces 13-14 million tonnes per annum of crude oil from its fields in the Arabian Sea, off the Mumbai coast.

The government has warned top social media and internet companies that their platforms may be temporarily suspended and even be ordered blocked in case they are unable to tackle the menace of deepfakes. The Supreme Court has ruled that high courts and session courts are not prohibited from considering anticipatory bail pleas. Following the death of Sahara group founder Subrata Roy, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) is working to return Rs 25,000 crore of unclaimed funds to investors. The funds were collected by Sahara group from investors through various schemes and were ordered by the Supreme Court to be deposited with Sebi. While Sebi has received over 20,000 applications from investors, only Rs 138 crore has been refunded so far. Over 12,000 elderly and disabled voters in Jaipur, Rajasthan have cast their votes in the first phase of home voting for the assembly elections. 59% of women detected with breast cancer after its spread
A new study has found that only 30% of women in India are diagnosed with breast cancer when the disease is still confined to the breast, while 59% are diagnosed when it has spread to nearby structures or lymph nodes. Bihar assembly clears bills to increase quota limit from 50% to 65%

2 coaches, engine of train derail in Prayagraj
