Nigeria's Dangote refinery set for test runs after getting more crude

Nigeria's Dangote oil refinery could begin test runs as early as this week after receiving a sixth crude cargo on Monday, company officials said, finally bringing the 650,000 barrels per day (bpd) plant to life after years of construction delays. The refinery, funded at a cost of $20 billion by Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, is being built at Lekki, on the outskirts of the commercial capital Lagos. 'Selected Ram Lalla idol of dark stone, standing posture'

The idol of Ram Lalla to be installed in the Ram temple's sanctum sanctorum will be "shyamal (dark)" in complexion and in standing posture, crafted by Karnataka sculptors Arun Yogiraj or Ganesh Bhatt. Its height will be 51 inches. The chosen idol will be made of dark Karnataka granite stones. The stone used in the idol will not be affected by water or milk. The age of the temple stones is 1,000 years, but sunlight, wind, and water will not affect it as a layer of granite has been installed below. No iron has been used in the temple's construction.

Lashkar terrorist who targeted Pandits & migrants killed in Shopian

A Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist, Bilal Ahmed Bhat, involved in a series of killings of soldiers, migrant workers, and Pandits, was gunned down in an encounter in Kashmir's Shopian district. Bhat fired on the police, army, and CRPF personnel during a cordon-and-search operation. His body was seized along with a large cache that included an AK rifle and magazines. Bhat, a resident of Shopian, unleashed a spate of attacks last year, targeting various people. He lured local youths to take up terrorism and even killed a fellow terrorist.

Hospitals can't charge for blood, says DCGI

DCGI has also asked the drug controller cum licensing authorities to direct all blood centres to adhere to the revised guidelines for recovery of processing charges. When a person donates blood, it is not transfused into a patient directly. The donated blood, referred to as whole blood, is processed in centrifuges to separate it into transfusable components. This includes red cells, platelets and plasma. The exercise is referred to as blood processing and a cost is incurred on this.

Glenmark Pharma launches antidiabetic injectable

Space PSU NSIL to launch GSAT-20 on SpaceX’s Falcon 9 this year

India’s Space PSU NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), the commercial arm of the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro), will launch a high-throughput satellite on Elon Musk’s SpaceX rocket — the Falcon 9 — later this year. NSIL plans to launch its second demand-driven communications satellite, the GSAT-20 (renamed GSAT-N2), in the second quarter of 2024. The satellite will be a high-throughput Ka-band satellite primarily aimed at meeting India’s growing broadband connectivity needs.

Following, abusing and pushing a woman might be "annoying" acts, but did not constitute the offence of outraging the modesty under IPC Section 354, the Nagpur bench of Bombay HC ruled, and granted relief to a man convicted by the judicial magistrate first class court at Wardha. Justice Anil Pansare acquitted the appellant, a 36-year-old labourer, saying the prosecution failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt. A college student had filed a police complaint against the man alleging that he had followed her a couple of times and abused her.
