Astronomers have discovered the closest known black hole to Earth, just 1,600 light-years away. Scientists reported Friday that this black hole is 10 times more massive than our sun. And it's three times closer than the previous record-holder. It was identified by observing the motion of its companion star, which orbits the black hole at about the same distance as Earth orbits the sun.

EPFO can’t seek extra 1.16% of salary for higher pension: SC

In a relief to lakhs of subscribers, the Supreme Court on Friday held that the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) cannot seek an additional contribution of 1.16% of the salary from those drawing over Rs 15,000 without the government amending the law and opened a four-month window for the members of the retirement savings body to exercise the option of getting pension on higher earnings.
