Various high court collegiums have not recommended any name for as many as 233 vacancies of judges, the law ministry has said. Currently, 404 judges’ posts are vacant in 25 high courts. India saw a sharp 19% rise in tuberculosis cases in 2021 over the previous year, even as 64% of the surveyed symptomatic population did not seek healthcare services between 2019 and 2021, the India TB report 2022 and National TB Prevalence Survey shows. Over 19.3 lakh new and relapsed TB patients were notified in 2021 against 16.3 lakh in 2020, the TB report 2022 released by health minister Mansukh Mandaviya shows.

Petrol, diesel prices up; LPG touches record high

State-run fuel retailers raised fuel prices across the board on Tuesday, a day after BJP completed selecting chief ministers in all the four states it won in the recent assembly polls. The hike in petrol, diesel and LPG drew a howl of protest from the opposition which called it a “triple assault”. The first price increase in five months saw retailers raising the base price of petrol and diesel by 80 paise a litre. The price of household LPG refills rose by Rs 50 each.
