The UP government is "seriously" contemplating bringing the proposed uniform civil code into force in the state, whether the opposition supports it or not, deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya declared on Saturday. His remark came within a day of Union home minister Amit Shah reportedly telling party functionaries at the BJP office in MP's Bhopal that "it is time to focus on a uniform code".

Won’t recognise Pakistani degrees, say UGC, AICTE
Higher education regulators have advised Indian students, including Overseas Citizens of India, not to travel to Pakistan for higher studies. The University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in a joint notification on Friday said students pursuing higher education in Pakistan will not be eligible for employment or further studies in India thereafter.

After a two-year break due to restrictions in view of the pandemic, Indian Muslims will be able to travel for Haj this year as Saudi Arabia has allowed entry of international pilgrims.
