Rising prices of pulses, edible oils sear household budgets

Household budgets have been hit hard by a sharp increase in prices of edible oil and pulses for the past few months due to a string of factors, including a jump in global commodity prices. Over the last 12 months, sunflower oil has seen a surge of over 50% across metros (77% in Kolkata), while mustard oil, palm oil and other edible oils now cost at least 30% more.
