The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the cadre review and restructuring proposal of Indian Foreign Service (IFS) to increase the cadre strength by around 215 in the next five years, a move that seeks to fulfil a long-felt need that had grown even more pressing because of the recent rise in India's influence and the desire to play big on the global stage.
