The defence ministry on Tuesday gave preliminary approval to three indigenous capital acquisition proposals, involving Helina anti-tank guided missiles to arm advanced light helicopters, worth Rs 4,276 crore. The Rajnath Singh-led Defence Acquisitions Council (DAC) also accorded AoN (acceptance of necessity) for procurement of infra-red homing VSHORADS (very short range air defence systems) missiles under design and development by DRDO at a cost of Rs 1,920 crore
